Hi all,
I’m currently finishing up my last semester of college and balancing an internship at a pretty large FinTech company. Ideally, I really wanted to get a full-time offer from my internship but due to headcount I wasn’t offered a position. I’ve loved the work I’ve done there and finally felt excited about the work I did but nevertheless I knew I needed a job lined up for graduation since I help support my family.
After interviewing with Edelman, I received a job offer but I honestly don’t feel excited whatsoever. The compensation is awful and I’ve read review after review about the toxic work environment- most say they accept the job because it looks good on their resume. The position is an AAE role and it really appears that the responsibilities are way beneath what I’m doing at my current internship. Additionally, I was told the job would be based out of NY but eventually once they return to work I would have to report to the DC office. Again, this is impossible for me because I support my mom financially and I wouldn’t be able to relocate and help my mom out. Overall, culture is really important to me and it seems like Edelman is really lacking. Not to mention their doesn’t seem to be any diversity either. I’ve been job-hunting for a month now and haven’t received any other interview requests, I’m worried that I’ll just have to suck it up and take this job because it’s the only offer I’ve gotten.
TLDR: I’m graduating in December and just received a job offer from Edelman but i’m worried about their “toxic” workplace culture, high turnover rate, lack of diversity and meek salary but it’s the only job offer I’ve received should I accept it?
