So, to make a very long story short, I'm trying to find a job that is remote only and, you know, pays.
I have a MA in International Affairs (graduated Dec. 2019), which I had plans to use after my planned move from the Midwest to Washington D.C......COVID ruined those plans, obviously. For various reasons (some COVID related), I want to stay close to home, but I also don't drive, so getting to a job outside of the house is a little difficult (living with my parents and my autistic brother, who I help take care of). I have been eying jobs that are within 10 miles or so from the house, and within hours that work with my family, though.
Anyways, I was able to get two unpaid internships in August (right when I restarted my job search after my brother headed back to his day program) within the realm of what I want to do -- which is non-profit work and/or political reform/research (but I'm still open to doing whatever). I've had some interviews since August, all which obviously failed. I'm currently applying to some paid internships that say that they accept recent grads -- and hoping that they still consider me as a 'recent' graduate. I've also been applying to some remote customer service positions, but haven't even gotten moved one step forward in the hiring process.
I'm continuing to aimlessly apply. I'm obviously making sure that I tailor each resume and cover letter to each job as much as possible -- although I use a lot of wording from other cover letters. But I'm thinking that I need to do something....new? Drastic? Get some type of certification online to qualify for something else? Go back.....to school? Become one of those entrepreneur people? Stalk companies that are remote only until they break down and give me a job? Continue to suffer and work for nothing for internships and fellowships, that while will give me experience, will give me no funds so I can move post-pandemic? HULP.
