For anyone else it's incredibly rude to just ignore messages from people, but for recruiters it's just expected.
Call me naive, but I think its incredibly unprofessional and a bad look for prospective companies. I understand that recruiters can be overworked and not have enough time to answer people; but if that's the case, the company should higher more recruiters so that they can answer everyone (I mean that's their job isn't it?).
I would much rather be told "We didn't choose you" then have to wait two weeks, search LinkedIn and guess which hiring manager was the one I contacted, message them about my application status, and then still not get any response.

Why is it generally accepted that recruiters can ghost people?
