I just graduated from college this past May and started a position at the beginning of August. I accepted the position despite the fact that the salary is much lower than I wanted. I compromised on salary because I knew the job market is tough right now and I didn't want to say no to any income, even if it's less than I expected.
I've now been at the company for 2 months. Overall, the job is fine. Coworkers are friendly, the office is nice, nothing bad to say in that regard. But, I feel incredibly underpaid and the position's duties are far different than I expected (and not what I'm interested in) and it's starting to weigh on me. I have applied to a few jobs here and there and I'm starting to consider seriously looking into other job options. I had two years of experience in my field before graduating so I am confident that I could find something with better pay if I really invested some time.
Is it too soon to leave this position? I just don't feel fulfilled or happy right now and I want to make sure I am somewhere that feels right. I plan on being picky and finding a new position that really suits me so I can stay there for a while and not put myself in this situation again. I'm eager to start applying/interviewing elsewhere but I don't want to appear like I'm an unreliable "job hopper". Any thoughts or advice?
