Internal promotion with nice title, added stress but no extra pay? Would you apply

What would you do in this situation?

It's part of HR policy at my workplace to offer 5% pay rise on promotion to the next level.

My boss is leaving and his position has opened up. He is practically the head of department so has huge responsibilities + meetings/presentations (stuff I hate). So if I were to get it it would mean more stress but little pay increase.

I'm tempted to apply for it because it's almost expected of me to go for it, and I would enjoy the extra respect/prestige of the title.

It would make sense as a stepping stone to an external role however my booming side business means I would like to go part time soon and had no plans to leave. Even worse, the seniority of the new role makes would make it hard for me to go part time.

So overall my heart is saying NO to applying for this role, but being ambitious it's almost ingrained in me to WANT the promotion if for nothing but the prestige. I always just thought promotion = good thing.

TLDR: Internal promotion means more stress/responsibilities but NO pay rise. I want it for the title/prestige/respect but financially it doesn't add anything and means I have to do more of the things I hate (meetings, public speaking). People expect me to apply. What would you do?
