I currently work at an organic grocery store, and I make $13.00 an hour. I work about 28-30 hours a week there. I like the work, it’s easy but my manager there definitely doesn’t like me, she refuses to acknowledge the great work I’m doing in upselling products, giving great service, cleaning well, etc. I have 5 managers total where I work, everyone loves me and asks me to apply for a lead position, but my main general manager is the one that doesn’t like me.
Now! This week, my old (best manager I’ve ever had) manager from a previous job said he needed help looking for a new hostess for his new restaurant he’s working at. It’s one of the top cafes where I live, a very high quality, very quick paced cafe. Today I did a brief shadow with their hostess today and it went super well! I really like the ambience and I know I’ll be in good hands with great coworkers and manager. But I am in a dilemma. The cafe is $9.00 an hour plus tips plus a percentage of servers tips. He said he’s looking at 2-3 days a week if I were hired. The grocery store is $13.00 an hour but my manager doesn’t like me. What should I do? Do you think if I asked my grocery store to slim my hours to make way for a 2nd job in my work life they’d be super upset? Or should I quit the store? I need some opinions from outside my friend/family circle. Thank you!
