Haven't heard back after onboarding

Hi so I just got a job at McDonalds (please don't judge) and I just went through the onboarding process where I completed the rest of the online paperwork but I haven't heard back after a week. The manager said they would text me back later that day or the next day to let me know when it's been processed. Like I understand that people can be super busy but a short text explaining what's going on wouldn't be so bad. Is this how the process is usually? I'm considering getting a job somewhere else but I feel like I should be patient and wait it out.
