Former Restaurant Workers: any advice on how to switch careers?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice. I’m 25 years old and have been working in the restaurant industry for 9 years, with some other part time positions in between (administrative work, and a short stint in retail). My hospitality experience includes a few years of a role in a management position.

I was laid off in March because the restaurant I was working at closed. I will be finishing up my associates degree in business administration in December, and am having an extraordinarily difficult experience finding a job that’s not a restaurant because I just don’t want to do it anymore. I would ideally like to work from home, and have applied to nearly everything under the sun - administrative assistant roles, data entry, customer service roles, call center roles...and like many others on this sub, I’ve been completely ghosted.

I know that I have incredible transferable skills, but I’m wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get myself out of the restaurant industry, as in suggestions for specific roles or positions that I could begin applying to. I know I’ll be taking a pay cut from my restaurant job (around $45,000 a year) however I need to make a minimum of $38,000 to not lose everything.

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone out there who’s feeling what I’m feeling right now!
