Do you get a job that you enjoy or go for the money maker?

Hello all political anthropologist here. I have always wanted to be an anthropologist and am applying for Phd programs now. I continue to realize that in some cases after I finish uni I will find the job of my ‘dreams’ researching about culture that will pay me about as much as I was earning as an 25yr old (I’m 30 now).

Should I give up on this long trek and go into politics or marketing instead?
