I work in a high demand field and I often take interviews to keep in practice with my interview skills and to see what opportunities are available. The first interview is always over the phone and if I am truly not interested or available I stop the process right away letting them know I am not currently available or looking. If we progress to an in person interview and I am interested I always follow up with an email letting them know that I am interested, enjoyed meeting with them and ask about next steps, etc. if I am not interested in the company or the position I often just walk away. Is this appropriate or am I making an error? I often look at interviews like dates. If I don’t care to see someone again I shake hands and leave without a follow up. Should I be sending a follow up even if I don’t like them or the company?
