I'm an engineering major in college. Because of COVID, I'm taking a semester or more off to find a related full-time job (I want to be a survey technician) and take some online courses. I did an internship this summer and impressed all my colleagues and myself, so I know I have it in me. Now especially, I feel like I'm wasting my talent doing busy work.
I've been at a warehouse for two years now. I've stuck it out this long, but now I think it's time to call it quits. Job searching is hard enough, but next month I'll have to move back in with my narcissistic mom, since it doesn't pay enough to live in my overpriced area. I can't focus on anything with her shit, that's why I moved out when I got my internship. Warehouse jobs don't seem to be the ones in short supply, since they're essential and nobody wants them. I have plenty of savings, but if I need the money bad enough, I'd gladly go back to warehouse work. My supervisors all like me, too, so I should get a good word if I re-applied to my company in a lower cost-of-living area. My only concern is how it looks to a potential employer that I quit a low-paying, unskilled job like that. Is that a red flag?
