After not getting an offer after my interview, I received an email asking if I'm still interested in the position?

The week after my interview, I emailed the CEO who interviewed me, asking if he had made his decision. He told me had just chosen the candidate that day, thanked me, and told me he'll keep my resume for future positions. Today, a few days after his reply, he emailed me back saying let him know if I'm still interested in the position.

I assume this is probably because the candidate he chose accepted another offer. Should I still go through with this, or does it seem bad that he came back to me after the person he wanted went somewhere else?

Just for some background info, this is a financial analyst position at a small fintech company. The pay is pretty low, $40,000, so I can see the candidate chosen went with a higher paying position. I'm a recent college graduate. May 2020. I'm also in the process with a recruiter of looking into/interviewing soon for another position.
