Recent Grad, Non-Citizen. How should I approach my Job Search?

150+ applications since June, only 1 interview. A couple of remote technical assignments that didn't amount to anything. At this point obviously it's my fault.

I also feel the need to mention that I am a non-citizen because I've always been bothered by the "will you now or in the future require sponsorship" question. I have about 9 months of work authorization left, and eligible for the 2 year extension (after clearing some hoops obviously), since I graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering.

I never figured out how to answer the question, saying yes is correct, saying no also can be justified (unless it specifically ask if you're on OPT and the like).

I've been answering no most times (since it usually automatically filters you out), did I just screw myself over for that?

Another concern I have is entry-level positions are starting to show up again. Sometimes they say recent-graduate but at the same time are looking for candidates still currently in school. Should I apply to these positions anyway? I don't want to get into some blacklist for seeming to not read the description properly.

My time is limited and I can slowly feel the noose tightening, and that's not helping me stay calm and focused during these tough times.
