Is it possible to have a US job and relocating abroad?

Hi,

I am curious to know if it is possible to move to another country for an indefinite period of time, while maintaining a US based employment?

I am original from another country, but I am a US citizen, I have been living and working in the US, my job allows me to work from home permanently, and I am considering moving near my family, in my home country, but maintaining my current employment. Is it possible? How are taxes handled in that case? I get W2s from my employer, but if I spend over 180 days in my home country I am considered a tax resident there.
