I started my current position a few months ago and last week I had a meeting with my manager discussing my progress so far at my position. I was told that in the near future I would be learning more things relevant to my skill set, which would be out of my job description. I'm glad to be learning more things that are relevant to my background but would like to be appropriately compensated in the future for these increased responsibilities. I was also told that I have been doing an excellent job so far so I believe that could help me with my case for a possible raise.
I understand that with covid going on right now, small businesses, like my work, can be financially struggling and trying to save money. But, I would still like to be compensated for when I will start to gain more responsibilities. Should I still ask for a raise down the line once I've settled into my new responsibilities and demonstrated that I'm performing well (assuming covid hasn't significantly calmed down)?
