This is my first time quitting on a job. My main reason is that I'm doing a role that requires 3 to 4 people (a team) and I've been doing it alone for the past couple of months without any overtime compensation or promotion/pay raise. I spoke to my boss about it and I got promises that I don't think I can hold on. They're doing what they can but it doesn't seem like they know what they're doing in terms of my development.
They really like me as an employee and they have this assumption that I won't leave them. I think they're taking advantage of me being nice to them. I've been offered a job at another company which I've already accepted and my intention is to leave them in good terms.
I just don't know how I can hand in my resignation and talk about it without being awkward. Is saying, "I'm ready to move on and take new challenges" going to be enough? I'm sure they will be surprised but it won't change my decision of leaving regardless of their offer.
