Free vs. paid online courses? (to show to employers)

Basically what the title says. Free courses are good because they're free, but I don't know if employers will take them into account (since there's no proof that you took them). At least for paid courses, there's some proof... Or does this stuff even matter in the first place?

I have around 5 hours to decide whether it's worth or not, since that's when the sale on Udemy ends. I'm aware that Udemy has sales frequently, but it's really tempting... I don't know if I'm falling into a scam, or if spending that money is worth it.

For context: I'm 18, poor, naive, very little job experience, starting from the ground up. Any advice would be appreciated, actually.
