A little bit of background: I've been in healthcare since 2005. I worked as a nurse aide for a major hospital for 11 years, then I became a medical receptionist for a private medical company which I did for 2 years. I only have a high school diploma, no degree, although I'm almost done with a pharmacy tech certificate program which I'm taking through a public city college. Thing is i'm trying to see if I can find some part time work in the meantime.
I've been out of work since I left in January, I've been trying to find a part-time medical receptionist job but they're not easy to get. I got a few offers for full-time medical receptionist with $15/hr and very *hitty hours (basically a repeat of the medical receptionist job that I left). But usually I get no response or a straight up rejection.
I would be open to basic customer service jobs too (i.e. part time retail and such). However, my current resume is fitted for medical receptionist positions. So I'm wondering...
- How could I improve my resume to make myself a better candidate for part-time medical receptionist (or any receptionist) jobs?
- How exactly should revise my resume to target basic customer service jobs (i.e. retail, data entry, etc.)?
