Was a college degree a waste of time for me specifically?

I am now over 8 months removed from my graduation date and I am still jobless. It makes me wonder if I should never have gotten a degree and just started working a retail job instead.

I started college back in 2015 and as of 2019 I obtained a degree in public relations. The problem that I've realized is that public relations is a skill in most cases and not a guaranteed workforce such as nursing and teaching. Yes there are positions for PR, but they are hard to find at least in my area. I went into getting my degree not knowing it would be this hard to find something.

It makes me wonder if I should have just started working retail back in 2015 and never tried to get a degree. To me it seems useless at this point because everyone wants experience. And yeah I could go get a retail job right now, but an employer isn't looking for retail experience when they hire someone for PR so I jsut question how people even get a start in PR. My resume is as good as it's going to get in an entry level status when I have no prior experience and only classwork to back me up.

It makes me feel useless, like I'm never going to get my dream job. People that didn't go to college that I know who work retail are much better off than me because they have been working and saving up for four years where as I'm broke, still searching, and depressed af because employers suck and won't hire entry level potentially great employees. I just don't know what to do.
