I started a job and was told it would be 6 months temp and then I'd be hired. At 6 months, I was told there some kind of hiring hold at the company but that they would still like to keep me onboard as temp until they'd be able to hire me permanently. I like the job so I agreed to stay.
It's now been close to two years. I am job searching because I don't know how much longer I can continue working and getting more responsobilities piled onto me with no benefits (no health ins, no pto, no paid holidays etc). Every time I have asked my boss about getting hired, I get no direct answer or told they're "working on it" or "sometime soon" whatever that means.
My question is once I do find a new job, should I give the company 2 weeks notice? I've always given atleast a month notice at my previous jobs. But I feel neglected and kind of lied to and dragged along. Part of me wants to be reallly petty and just leave with no notice. Since I'm technically not an employee, do they deserve the courtesy? I've never worked a temp job before so I don't know if leaving process is any different.
