Phone call rejection vs email COVID Edition

Been discussed many times before but with virtual interviews becoming the norm for now, what is your take?

I just got my first ever scheduled phone call rejection. Feeling so deflated. The anxiety induced in the waiting process outweighs the personal touch (which is also awkward for both parties).

Regardless of COVID, email is the way to go in my opinion.
