I’m sure this isn’t a new story for lots of people but I need a new perspective. Went from building a fairly decent career at a ‘stable’ company to getting my position eliminated and then getting outsourced soon. I believe in myself and my skills when things get rough and I’m optimistic about job prospects but right now I am still with the old employer not building anything and staying fairly miserable until I get a new job (applying everywhere right now). Staying with the company sucks because there will be no room for growth and no incentive to work hard (why work hard in a dead end position?), which is my main motivation for any job. Should I quit soon without a new job offer lined up? I haven’t had a decent night’s rest since I heard the news, I’m constantly on edge and I’ve lost a ton of weight. I know once I cut out my old company I’ll feel immediate relief but I also don’t want to reduce my chances for a new job. If I shouldn’t quit how can I trick myself into thinking the work isn’t a waste of energy that will just move offshore anyway?
