I work pt for a family member, my entire job could be done by a computer, but if I quit, he probably won’t replace me

I’ve been working pt for awhile due to health problems. I don’t want this job anymore, it’s only $12/hr and I want to switch to work from home.

My job is to assist the office manager. She’s a capable and hard worker, but she has too much on her plate. If I quit, the hours I spend scheduling and confirming clients will fall to her. She can do it alone but it’s a lot of work. It’s really easy to fall behind and hard to catch up.

I feel really guilty thinking about leaving but a large chunk of my job could be automated, it’s just the boss refuses to. I feel unfulfilled. I know it’s not a great time to leave jobs but he’s retiring in a year or so. I know it’s not my problem but I can’t help feeling guilty that he probably won’t make any changes, let alone hire anyone new, and the office manager will struggle bc of me.

What do I do?
