So a few weeks back, I applied to a non-profit. I got a screening interview with HR & it went really well. HR person told me they’d forward my materials to the hiring manager and I’d hear within the week.
Fast forward a week, and I get a call from HR to officially set up official interview via Zoom. The catch is, it’s a position that I didn’t apply for, nor was it posted on their website, Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.
When the interview email invitation was set up, a job description of position I’d be interviewing for was attached as a “draft”
I just have a few question that some of you may or may not be able to answer from your past experiences or knowledge...
-
Do organizations ever “create” positions for someone they really want? I don’t want to get ahead of myself because I don’t think it was created for me, but curious if this does ever happen
-
Since I applied to this organization for a different position but was essentially referred to this new position, is that a good sign? Or is it neither good or bad, and normal for orgs to do this
-
If this position wasn’t posted anywhere (company website, job boards, etc.) is it bold to assume I’m the only one interviewing for this position?
I don’t want to get ahead of myself and still need to solidly prep. At the end of the day, I have to treat this as any other interview. I’ve been rejected 4 times since graduation & this will be my 9th interview.
I really just want this grueling process to end and I’m hoping Monday will be last interview before I can begin my career. Any insight to my situation would be greatly approximated, thank you very much
