Final round is an open-ended question to do a 30 min presentation on “anything”. What are they looking for?

Hi,

First time posting here, so I hope this is the right place.

I got laid off this summer, and have been in an active job search since then. I got to the final round with one company I really like due to the role and culture fit. The final round includes a presentation. I am a bit at a loss, because it’s an open ended “whatever you want” question.

Here’s the exact wording: This 45 minute presentation (30 minute presentation, 15 minute Q&A) can be anything you'd like to present in regards to the company, the position, or anything you think would be helpful for the hiring committee to know. This will be followed with 1:1s with the team, where they have a chance to better get to know you.

Without giving away too much personal info, here’s a bit about me and the company:

  • Economics degree
  • 24 y.o., 1 year of full-time work experience at a financial investment firm that specializes in SaaS, lots of internships at startups and tech
  • the company is an insurance B2C startup (early stage, <100 people)
  • the role is in growth partnerships (small team so I'd be one of the first members)

Has anyone dealt with open ended questions that ask you to talk relatively in depth (30 min) about something? How did you approach answering them? What are the hiring managers looking for? I’ve had to do presentations while interviewing before, but I would get very specific prompts like “evaluate opportunity X for Y purpose” which made it relatively easy.

At first, I thought that they want me to do something related to the potential job, like finding potential leads, but after some research I’m at a loss, because I wouldn’t be able to know what a successful partner looks like to them without working there first. Are they looking for something more creative and personal instead?

Would really appreciate any input/ideas you might have, especially if you've dealt with similar interview questions in the past or had to hire someone through a similar process. Let me know if this is not enough detail to answer the question well.

TLDR; final round of interview includes open-ended 30 minute presentation on anything related to the company or position, or anything else that the hiring committee should know about. What are hiring managers looking for and how to best approach this vague prompt?
