contract extension

Hello. I am in a weird situation and seeking some advice. I've been on a temp-to-hire deal, and my inital duration has come to an end. My manager is very happy with me and has offered me an extension verbally. However, I have not received any paper work. My assumption was that I would be offered an official contract to sign for the extension, however the staffing company has been unresponsive. My contract ended a few days ago and I'm still going into work. I'll be speaking with my manager tomorrow, but I thought I'd ask here for some thoughts. What does the paperwork for the extension work? Should I be worried?
