I'm a fairly recent graduate. I joined the U.S. Peace Corps immediately after I graduated but was evacuated from the country I was a volunteer in (and essentially laid off) when COVID-19 started. Since then I've been working a minimum wage job in my hometown and I'm feeling ready to find a big girl job that I can actually apply my college degree to.
Lately I've been thinking about seeing a professional career counselor. My friends and family range from blind optimism to absolute doubt when I ask them for advice about my resume/job applications so I feel like I need someone who can help me see a more realistic view of my job search and career path.
Has anyone here had success using a career counselor? Has anyone been just straight up scammed? I don't know anyone who has really used a job counseling service before.
