I just got a job offer that I’m pretty excited about except for one thing. Some glassdoor reviews say that the company has “strict start and end times” and is not “work from home friendly”. The first one is honestly a deal breaker for me. This is a tech company and absent of scheduled meetings, there’s no reason for this. Logistically, the company is a bit of a ways away, and many people I know that live in my area and work in the tech hub area this office is located in start/stop at wierd hours, like 6am or 10am to shave 1 hr off the drive. The second makes me reserved because it signals a mindset that the company is stuck in their ways and doesn’t trust employees. Also, it kinda shows they’re losing out on talent in this competitive area and must not make really practical decisions. I want this to be addressed with the manager first before I commit. Anyone have any advice on what to say or how to politely ask? Everything else seems good and the job seems interesting but I could see myself get worn out from a (pointless) long commute within a year if that’s the case.
