I have a decision to make

Received a job offer today. Some background: I recently moved across the country to be closer to family due to Covid (if I got sick where I was, there'd be no one to take care of me, plus it was a move I was already planning on doing, because it was a ridiculously HCOL area and all my friends had not-so-slowly been moving away). My job is temporarily online, and I could conceivably keep doing it remotely until the pandemic is over, but my CEO has said that staff can work from wherever they want but should plan on being back physically in the area by Labor Day.

So, this job offer is for a job in current career area, but it's a serious step down career-wise and pay-wise (like -$25,000). They even said during the interview today that they were surprised that I even applied. I guess I felt desperate because of the pandemic. I told them I would think about it tonight and give them an answer tomorrow.

I've been surprised by how much responsiveness I'm getting from employers. I've had quite a few interviews, one job that I really wanted where I was their #2 option, another interview this Thursday with a job that I really, really want and would put me back in an academic context (which would be a dream come true), and another really cool temp job that would be WFH that I'm waiting to hear back from. I'm also surprised at how many job postings there are. It helps that I have non-profit experience, I guess? This last weekend I applied to two jobs in my exact niche area, although I haven't heard back yet.

Here's my question: should I count my lucky stars and accept this job? One positive about this job is that it seems manageable enough that I could speech pathology classes on the side (this is my long-term-try-to-salvage-a-semblance-of-a-career plan, after deciding not to do a PhD). A negative of this job is that I need to work in person, and currently don't have a driver's license, and it seems that DMV offices are reallllllllly overbooked right now so it might be tricky to get one within the next two weeks.

tl;dr: Should I thank my lucky stars and accept the first job offer that comes my way because we're in the middle of a freaking pandemic, or should I wait and see what shakes out from some of the better options on my horizon?

Thank you!!!
