Hi everyone!
I have been looking for a job for months and I'm seriously happy that I've finally found one. However, I'm not starting to feel terrified. In normal times, I don't think I'd be this bad. I'm a people person, I do find confidence from somewhere when I want to and therefore am a great candidate for working closely with people. Anyway, I have a new job as a home carer. Basically, I will be going into older and more vulnerable people's homes to take care of their needs. This is a job I dreamed of doing ever since seeing how big of a difference they made to my grandads life when he was alive.
However, training begins tomorrow. I am terrified of catching covid-19. I made it clear with them that I would need full PPE and they assured me it would be provided (Inc. Visors, masks, etc.). But I still can't get it out of my head!
Is my fear valid? How can I get over this in case it jeopardises my work? I don't think it will but I would absolutely feel devastated if I was to pass it onto an older person when I visit their home (symptoms aren't clear for 7 days I believe?). I don't have it yet, I've been tested and haven't left the house since. I've been extremely careful, using masks and hand sanitizer and only leaving my house when necessary.
Basically, is there any way I can overcome this? I was desperate for a job and I am so grateful for this opportunity and don't want to ruin it.
