I am currently living on a visa in Australia. I am a renewable energy/power system engineer. I graduated last year in July with a master's in renewable energy from a top university. After graduation, I worked as a contractual engineer for a company planning large scale solar projects. My contract ended in March, just a few days after the country went into full lockdown.
In February, I was contacting multiple companies for my next job and I had quite a bit of luck. I was approached by a large company and had multiple interviews and chats with various engineers. Because of the lockdown order in March, they later revoked their offer. I applied to 2 other companies and they didn't even reply anymore.
My current situation is looking for jobs after getting up every morning. But all job postings are looking for experienced engineers (5 yr experience) or recruiters are only talking to mutual connections/recommendations. I have tried reaching out to many recruiters, companies but getting absolutely no response. My mental condition is worsening every day. As I said, I am living on a visa far away from my family, I literally have no support. I have some savings to pay my bills for the next couple of months but without a job, it is getting really hard to navigate life. When I was working, I felt like I have a purpose in my life. Now I only feel like I am a failure sitting alone in my room. I am from a small Asian country. My country doesn't really have the type of jobs I am trained at so going back home doesn't seem like an option either.
Any advice would be appreciated on how to deal with this situation, improve my CV, and look for a new job.
