Hey everybody! I'm posting this on behalf of my fiance.
Long story short, my fiance graduated with his PhD in Cognitive and Information Sciences right when COVID-19 hit. His thesis was on human-computer interaction and he's very much struggling to get his foot into industry. He's talked to his friends who are also PhD holders and unfortunately, the path they took (a particular staffing service) did not work out for him.
In terms of his skills and experiences, he was a teaching assistant for 6 years and has taught his own class over the summer at the university. He has experience in data visualization and analysis with R, Python, and Matlab as well as creating online behavioral experiments and surveys using Javascript, PHP, and HTML. We're thinking that might be the route to take, but we're unsure of how to demonstrate his knowledge on a resume.
I think his biggest challenges currently are knowing what his transferable skills are, how to transfer them, and where to transfer them to (eg. which industries to look at).
We're just looking for any leads or ideas about where to start honestly. If you need any more information, please just ask.
