Pretty straightforward situation.
Just accepted a job offer working at a finance-ish firm in NYC. I graduate in June and my start date is in September. I'll be making around 60K and I want to live in an apartment commensurate to that salary somewhere in Harlem, but I don't know how to find work for that interim period. Basically what I mean by that is I want to live somewhere in line with the salary but I'm unlikely to be able to live there without some other form of income.
In anticipation of the "just go home after college" bit, assume that isn't an option for me. I could go home, but I would strongly prefer not to and want to explore my options since that will always be a last resort available.
Given that, what strategies should I use to look for work that (1) can be done during COVID (so remotely) and that (2) will accept me for a few months before I start my new job?
I've been looking at research roles but I'm struggling to find something temporary. Would it be a poor move to work somewhere as if I were going to stay long term and then leave after two months?
