Only been at a job 6 months but have gotten another offer in my desired field and better pay/location
Currently a mechanical engineer at my company as my first job, which was understood to eventually delve into a more mechatronics role within the company. It’s been a solid experience so far, with a lot of good people and there is nothing really wrong outside of not doing what I want to do which is software.
After 6 months in a company reached out to me about a role directly with software and so I interviewed with them and they have now offered me 10% better pay and much more ideal location. It is also with a fast growing company which is also appealing.
Basically I would feel a lot of guilt for bailing on a company so soon when they’ve invested training in me and I want to be sure that this isn’t a total grass is greener situation.
Any questions you recommend that I ask myself to confirm that I would be making a good career move and not just assuming grass is greener? Or is there any big issues you’d recommend thinking of before pulling the trigger?
Thanks y’all!
