I'm confused and annoyed right now. I had been interviewing at a company for about a month. I found the job on a very "curated" networking group, and reached out to the person directly with my resume & cover letter. Fast forward a few weeks, I crush the interview with her (head of marketing), the interview with the CMO, and then the interview with the CEO.
I was verbally offered the job by the head of marketing about a month after I sent in my resume (3/11); however, I didn't accept on the spot. There was no stated salary with this offer (I'm an idiot and was too excited on the phone to even realize- though they knew my range and were comfortable with it), and it was a contract-to-hire position (which was not clear from the job listing at all), which the head of marketing was weary of offering to me given I am coming from full-time agency work. She knew that it may be disadvantageous given my current situation, and was transparent in that they'd be willing to work with me because they "loved me." They even asked me if I wanted to freelance first while keeping my current job, then hiring me after a "few months."
We had a long conversation and I let her know I would follow up with her with questions/concerns to move forward via email. I sent an email out later that day essentially asking about the salary, how I would be paid (1099? W2?), if there was an official "full time" starting date after contract ended, what the goals were, and if they were open to consider a full time hire instead. I think it's important to note here that we had been very friendly and in-contact this entire time.
I never got an email back. Not an answer to any of my questions. I sent another email, now March 23rd to the same woman to follow up, but I was sure to take into consideration the current state of the market and asked if there had been a change in hiring. No response. I even checked on LI to see if they hired someone else. They didn't. Job listing is still on their website.
It's been a month since I sent that email. Honestly, I was interviewing with two other companies at the time, so I wasn't so concerned; however, this job was the one I was really holding out for and excited for. And, also, now the current company I'm working for just conducting mass lay-offs and salary decreases, so I'm getting back into the game again.
Is it too late now to reach out again? Should I have CC'd the CMO & CEO that I spoke with when sending my follow up? Am I a dumb*ss? Did I really just get ghosted by a company after a verbal offer?
Any insight would be helpful, especially since I will be applying this in situations moving forward.
