Need advice: Started new job and nervous about how I'm going to get through my next shift (hospitality)

(Sorry if this is not the most appropriate sub, please suggest another sub if you think it would be more appropriate there)

So basically everybody gets given a sheet of paper, they write their names and order on it and the chefs go make all the meals up. Then different assistants (I've just started out as a new assistant at a boarding home place) are responsible for delivering all the meals to different groups of tables around the room (hardest part is giving the correct meal orders to the correct people as I need to know all their names but I dont).

The issue is, I don't know people's names, my last 2 shifts were with a buddy who told me where each person was and helped me to deliver meals to the tables but for my next shift I won't have anyone helping me out and telling me people's names. I'm expected to know them all but I don't. I've forgotten most of the people's names because I was too busy trying to focus on learning and remembering all the other duties and procedures.

So I'll have a bunch of orders for x, y and Z person that I'm supposed to take to them but don't know their names or where they sit.

I was told that this was the hardest part of the job and will take some getting used to and that I can feel free to ask around but at this point I'm going to be either asking everyone's name or repeatedly asking the other assiatants where x, y and Z are sitting. Out of about 30 people I probably know 5 names and even then I'm not sure.

Should I ask the other assistants if they can tell me where x, y and Z people are sitting? Or should I ask the residents themselves for their names, introduce myself to them and ask them if they could please tell me where x, y and Z people are sitting?

I don't want to come off annoying to the other assistants because they are all busy and all have their own areas of the room they are responsible for but I think theyd be understanding because they know I'm new. I don't want to annoy the residents too much either by asking a whole table what their names are or going upto someone and asking where 2 other people are. I feel like it's impersonal and kinda rude to go upto someone, ask their name, introduce myself to them and then if I don't have a meal for them, ask them if they know where x and y are sitting so I can give them their meals instead. So I think it'd be easier for me to ask the other assistants where x, y and Z are sitting. But I don't want to have to keep doing this like 4+ times while I start putting names to faces. There's basically no down time to ask other assistants as it's such a fast paced environment.

Any advice on what the best thing to do would be?
