Hi all, I put this in askHR as well, but this might be a good place for this.
I was laid off from my job 2 weeks ago due to a company reorg and nothing at all to do with coronavirus (why the hell they decided to do a reorg during this is lost on me though). Sort of. I was told I no longer have any responsibilities, they took my computer, badge, all my access to software, etc. So I'm basically no longer an employee. HOWEVER, due to the pandemic, they told me I would still be on normal payroll until May 15th (I'm not going to give them any props for that). I haven't signed any documents whatsoever, and I don't have to until May.
So how do I handle this when it comes to finding a new job? I absolutely do NOT want to sit around waiting until May to find something new. I'm terrified the job market is only going to get worse, though thankfully I don't really work in an industry that's too effected by this. Is it ethical to say I'm still employed on applications and on my resume? Do I have to tell potential employers that I've been laid off if I have interviews before May 15th?
