I am in my senior year of engineering at university and offered a full-time position in August for a company I am currently interning at and also will intern with in the summer.
They offered me slightly more than I expected, but I know another person that is also hired full-time recently who will be starting at the same time that will accrue $1,000 less per year. This other hire will not have any internship experience with them, while I have 2 semesters ( a little over half a year). I genuinely feel like I can be much more productive then someone who hasn't already been there with experience.
Do you think it is possible, or wise, to negotiate a higher salary, maybe 1-2k more? I feel like if I get there and produce like I know I will then it will be harder to get a salary increase, even if I am over performing.
