This is a continuation of my previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/jobs/comments/fat70e/how_to_get_a_job_overseas_after_a_longterm/
After looking at some of the comments from the previous post and other subreddits, I've decided that I would try finding a job here in Malaysia again, before considering moving abroad. I knew the chances of getting an USA J-1 or H1B visa is slim, the O-1 is impossible unless I win an Oscar, the closest is Singapore (since I'm also interested in acting) but it's impossible for now, and I'm insufficient in funds to move abroad rn. But I need some advice before I create my resume, because I don't want my potential future employers to get confused:
- I've been let go of 4 companies, each company I worked for 3 months. I would technically get a year's worth of experience, but it's divided between 4 companies, should I put it in my resume?
- How can I address a long-term unemployment gap in my resume?
- Can I put my skills learned since my last employment? I have a degree in marketing and MBA, but dropped out of another college in the middle of a diploma in broadcasting?
- My skills were/are in marketing, but I am more proficient in videography/video editing. How is a video editor's resume differs from a marketing exec's resume?
- Do you think I should write a cover letter explaining my reasons, or is there any other way?
- How should I incorporate my portfolio in my resume? Video links are one thing, but how can I approach my portfolio?
