Looking for experience in laboratory work or research

Hi I'm almost out of college and I could not of been able to get in to the college internship (I did not attend not to). I was told by my counselor that you can get a lab related job out of the hospital with no accreditation. But I feel like I need to get my feet wet in this type of work and I don't know where to start. I took course related work to the job but I don't know what to do?
