I currently work part time at a classical public radio station. Besides the hosts, there are two directors and two part-time staff members (incl myself) that take care of everything. I'm good at what I do, and the position is super flexible. I like it there, but don't make enough money to save as much as I would like to. Things would fall apart for a while if I left unexpectedly.
My friend, who works at an independent newspaper, mentioned last October that a position may be opening up there soon. She recommended me and got me in contact with the assistant publisher. I sent my resume, but they weren't actually ready to hire at the time. I "checked in" every so often so they wouldn't forget about me. They finally got back to me and asked me to come in for an interview next week.
I imagine they are going to offer me a position. The publisher does know I work pt at the radio station, but I haven't mentioned anything about the newspaper to my boss at the station yet. The publisher said it's pretty casual there, and people come and go as long as they're there when they need to be. I still like working at the radio station and would prefer to split my time between both jobs, if possible. How do I: a) bring this up with my boss at the station, and b) negotiate a schedule with each of the employers that accommodates both jobs?
Thanks!
