If you have job referral from the owner of the company then will it increase the chances of getting hired?

I know the owner of the 50-60 employee company personally. But we are not close. He’s kind of been like a mentor on & off. He asked me to send my resume who he then forwarded to the recruiter.

He then met with me the day before my phone convo with the recruiter I had today for a rundown of things.

The recruiter said I’d hear back early next week and he hasn’t been in a situation like this.
