How do I...even get an interview?

I live in a very competitive state and have a degree from a fancy university in Economics with minors in Math and Comp Sci. I just finished a year long post-grad program in banking and everyone expects me to do something great but I'm so overwhelmed with just applying to jobs. Every title is so specific and I find myself sitting down and catering every cover letter specifically to that role along with my resume and it gets so exhausting.

I get conflicting advice from people across all ages. Someone in the 3-5 year of experience range says "it's a number games" and I should max out on job apps so I can expect a response from at least 1-2 places. Someone with 5+ years says I need to network (these are not traditional stereotypes, just specific to my case).

I'm trying to find a role I genuinely like but of course I don't know what it is exactly yet so networking is a little hard because I have anxiety that the other person is going to expect me to be extremely interested in and committed to their field. I haven't heard back from places I apply to but I think I'm not applying to enough places. I feel like I don't know enough information about applying to jobs.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
