It's my 3rd week at my SEO internship and the CEO comes up to me and says he wants me to master the art of building backlinks. And if I master it within the next 2 weeks, he'll give me a job here at this agency.
I'm excited and I've been studying a Udemy course they gave me access to and talking with the CEO. He told me he wants me to create a Step-by-step process in a Google Doc for how to create a backlink. I will be making backlinks only for the marketing agency website, NOT the clients they have.
I'm excited that I achieved my goal of getting hired(will be hired in 2 weeks). However, I'm 99% sure he's going to pay me a very low salary. I know because of the job postings on their site show a salary range thats way lower than market value. I don't think it'll be enough money to survive here in Miami. And my brother is moving out of state(not sure which state yet because he's going for interviews now).
If the job doesn't pay me enough to pay my living expenses, then I'll have to move with my brother... and I don't want to do that. I want to stay here in Miami.
Do you think that when I'm not studying how to create backlinks and not at the internship that I should start studying Google PPC? My original plan was to study Google PPC with a udemy course and use that knowledge to volunteer for non-profit organizations looking for help on VolunteerMatch to build my portfolio and my resume and get real experience and ultimately get a PPC job, which usually pays at least $40,000 per year salary. That amount is more than enough to survive here. Yes, I've sat down for a few hours to crunch the numbers for the rent/living expenses. Me and my brother live in a cheap rent apartment together.
Would like some advice on this.
