Could use some advice for how to negotiate in a tricky situation

Entry-level engineering. I've accepted a great position already but have just received an offer on a dream position. The only downside to the dream position is the initial salary is about 5k less than the first one when adjusted for COL. I asked if they could match the COL difference and they asked for the offer letter. Now, they obviously don't know I am going to renege on the first position in order to take this one. Should I just send the letter with the company name and dates blacked out? I don't think it's actually legal for them to ask for the name of the company. The date is from nearly a month and a half ago so it would be somewhat obvious the offer isn't active. However, i'm still very happy with the current acceptance and the bump in salary would make a difference to me.

I will also say that the first company I'd probably only stay at for 2-5 years while the second one is much more of a permanent company.
