I will be dropping out of my master's program. How badly will this hurt any potential future job prospects?
I am currently in my first semester of a master's program. Once the semester is over, I will be dropping out. I had no desire to go in the first place. It has been absolutely miserable ever since I started and I've wanted out since day 1.
I have been working full time ever since I graduated college and I still have been since going to grad school so I do not have any employment gaps to worry about on my resume. I would prefer to leave it off my resume and forget I ever went. It has brought me no joy whatsoever and I can't think of any good experiences or lessons I've learned by going and I'm fairly positive interviewers aren't going to want to listen to me whine about how much I hate school.
Anyway, if I leave it off my resume will they find out I went through a background check? Should I leave it off my resume or leave it on and if they ask why I left, I just make some bs excuse to explain it? I doubt I'll ever find a solid job in the future, but on the -1000% chance I do land an interview at a good job, will dropping out hurt my chances or affect my future job prospects in any way?
