As the title says.. I am in a bit of a dilemma and I’m asking for professional advice or personal experience.
I do not have a college degree. I just simply didn’t finish. In fact, I didn’t finish to work full time with my current employer.
I make $60k a year salary (excluding high earning bonuses) and I am desperate for more income. I also don’t enjoy the industry that I am in and I’m feeling really complacent. There’s just not much more for me to “learn” and I feel as if I’m now restraining myself from growth.
Tldr; it’s time for a change.
I’m currently employed by a large organization as a Store Manager. I feel as if the title doesn’t really explain the job responsibilities because I deal with so much. Here’s my attempt to explain all the key areas my role requires me to fulfill in order to be successful.
- Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of employees.
- Development of new and tenured staff.
- Individual accountability with every member of my store team to ensure they’re performance and objectives meet store goals.
- Ensure the safety of my staff and customers by monitoring teammate behaviors and maintaining the equipment and building.
- Utilizing Select, Sort and Shine to maintain business image and safety in both customer service area, inventory room and workshop.
- Providing business consistency through accurate inspections, quality and timely work.
- Responsible for protecting all company assets and finances.
- Ensure proper inventory is received and delivered, while remaining sorted and easily accessible for increased efficiency and accurate results.
- Analyze business reports including staffing guidelines, income statements, expense analysis, and other tools to identify key areas of strength and weaknesses.
- Understand how the business operates and makes money and utilize available resources to plan, prepare and profit.
- Identify business trends and leverage them to align with company initiative
- Host meetings to debrief store team on prior months performance and discuss new monthly objectives
- Execute our 12 step customer service process to increase revenue and customer relations
I can go on. If you all want more, I’d love to. I need help also creating a resume.
I don’t know exactly what I want to do because this is really all I have known. I know the things I enjoy are leadership style positions, sales, public speaking and I really enjoy technology.
I feel overwhelmed and stressed, for no real reason. I have a job, it’s secure. I just need to better myself.
I’m hoping somebody can guide me in searching for jobs that require similar skills and also help me develop a resume that makes the most sense. I’m highly adaptable and can learn anything quickly.
I’m based out of Columbia SC.
Please understand going back to school is not an option for me because of finances.
By all means, please ask clarifying questions or anything you feel may help you and myself move towards something.
