Background: I've been applying for internal promotions, with my boss's blessing and help. He has also indicated that his boss will also be recommending me for any position I apply for. So last week, I apply for the same role, but one level up from my current role (I'm already performing at this level based on my reviews, but don't formally have it). Within hours, I had a recruiter contact me about a phone interview and scheduled it for the same afternoon.
Phone interview goes very well, and interviewer mentioned that this manager already wanted to interview me before this phone interview occurred. Recruiter also mentions he will be highly recommending me.
The next morning, I get a meeting invite from the hiring manager, asking for a half hour "chat" about the role. Given that both of us had some travel this week, it's scheduled for Monday. So now, my question is what this means. I'm inclined to think it might be that she already knows she wants to hire me (we've worked together before, her boss is recommending me, and I have great review scores) and just wants to confirm this. For what it's worth, I know that formal interviews are an hour and called that.
Any thoughts?
