I'd like to ask your opinion regarding my experience in a company that I have applied for jobs. For the sake of privacy, I would call this company "Company X" and I would not indicate gender. As I was looking for a job opportunity, I found Company X. The job responsibilities looks fantastic and close to my previous role. The company also has some good opportunities. So, I applied.
Fortunately few days later, I got an email back asking me about my availability for phone interview. I emailed back stating my availability and immediately response back for gratitude. BTW, this is a manager, not an HR person. Fast forward, I was had a phone interview with the manager. I felt that the interview went well. I asked towards the end of the interview if there is any doubts about my eligibility for the job. I also asked for any feedback. The manager said that there is no doubt and also stated that I am a very strong candidate. The manager also stated that the decision will take a week. By then, the manager wanted to set-up an on-site interview with the manager and someone from the site. The interview ended well. I sent an email back thanking the manager for the opportunity to discuss the role and the company. Great!
After a week, I have not received any call or email. After two weeks, I still haven't received any respond back. So, I decided to email the manager. The next day, I received an email back from the HR representative that I was not selected and they are moving on. BTW, that was a generic email. I tried to email back both the manager and the HR person about it, but I did not received any response.
Well, I thought to myself that they might have figured out that the job might be really too much for me. It's all good that they have found someone who perfectly fits for the role. Anyways, I really like the company so I tried to find something that is suitable for me to start with. And I found a different position that perfectly aligns with my background end experiences. Few days later, I got the same generic respond from the HR person.
Why am I posting this here? I'd like to ask everyone's opinion about this. Honestly, I am still hang-up with my first experience with them. The manager went on and said that I will have an on-site interview in a week. I would have been happy if the manager stated that they are still in the process and still browsing candidates. I would also not be sad if the manager never stated any promises. In addition, I have never received any response from that manager after my phone interview. For some reason, the manager did not like me during the interview. Well, I never felt that during the interview. I would have been happy hearing any negative feedback from the manager since I asked for it. Lastly, it seems that I was banned from the company after that. I might have been making assumption. But the decision for the other position seemed to be really right away. I know that I should just move on. But this really bugs me a lot. Any thoughts?
