I got hired in a manufacturing company that has 2 main manufacturing departments. It's rapidly growing and they are struggling to get orders out in time. I was hired in one department, but working more in another. The department I was hired in is more advanced, skill wise. But I need training, more so, than the other department. But the less skilled department is where they are needing more and more people. I have been working some in the department I was hired for, but it's like 1 day in that department and 2 in the department I was not hired for.
The only thing I don't like is that I am not learning more advanced skills at the rate I would be if I was working mainly in the department I was hired for. And I don't want to be stuck in the roll I didn't apply for. But on the plus side, it's a rapidly growing company, so I am in progress to be leaning all things. That may be a good thing in the future, as I would be the only person that has experience in all areas of production.
I think I can get them to train me in the area where I was hired in more, just by mentioning production needs at the right time, to make that convenient.
It's almost like each side is trying to get me to work on their side, but it kind of depends on the need at the time, for who wins. It bothers me a little that I applied for the job I wanted, but have been working another mostly.
